Teaching Artist - Elizabeth Taraba
Week 5, 9 am -12 pm
Ages 13 - 16
The Art of Printmaking is Unique in that the Artist achieves Multiple Original Artworks that look remarkably alike! The methods of Printmaking are various and fun! We will explore Relief Printmaking where we remove material from a block of wood or rubber creating a design and then roll ink onto the surface. This allows us to print the ink onto multiple pieces of paper and sometimes in multiple colors! When Engraving we ETCH a design into a plastic plate and force into the scratches! This method requires the use of an intaglio press for the ink to transfer to paper. Commercial silk screen printing allows us to print on just about anything... but we will stick with paper or fabric (maybe even a tee shirt) Silk screen uses a stencil type design and forces the ink through fabric to the paper or material below. These methods can be learned and developed at camp. All material fees are included in the price.
