    Teaching Artist: David Rivera

Prerequisite: a Zoom download/account to attend class virtually.

Would you like to make your drawings appear more realistic than ever before? What if you could produce images using simple drawing materials that looked like paintings or photos? This ONLINE class will explore those possibilities. By blending and layering different mediums such as pencil, charcoal, ink, colored pencil and pastel, you will discover ways to make your drawings vibrate with color, texture and dimension. We will focus on a variety of subjects, including still lifes, as well as the human figure. For each project, emphasis will be placed on gauging accurate proportions first, followed by value tones and colors. This class goes well beyond the basics and students can expect to produce highly finished works of art. Many of the same concepts taught in this class can be applied to painting.

    Teaching Artist: Dan Graziano

This two-day workshop will focus on painting “alla prima” (all at once) as well as developing greater skills of observation, simplification and quickly painting “wet on wet” to create strong “painterly” paintings. The workshop will also discuss techniques to quickly transfer the important elements of a reference photo to the canvas, creating an artistic painting rather than simply rendering a photograph.

Each day of the workshop will include a short painting demo by Dan with explanation of his process along the way along with plenty of one-on-one individual instruction throughout the day.

This workshop is designed for beginning to advanced painters in both oil and acrylic mediums. Participants are encouraged to bring photos to paint from or may choose from photos brought by the instructor.

CLASS SIZE IS LIMITED SO REGISTER SOON. Participants supply their own art supplies and equipment. A suggested supply list will be provided at registration.
